Secretariat of Karnataka Legislative Council
The Secretariat was set up pursuant to the provisions contained in Article 187 of the Constitution, which provides for a separate secretarial staff for each House of Parliament.
- The House or each House of the Legislature of a State shall have a separate secretarial staff: Provided that nothing in this clause shall be construed as preventing the creation of posts common to both Houses.
- The Legislature of a State may by law regulate the recruitment and conditions of service of persons appointed to the secretarial staff.
- Until provision is made under clause (2), the Governor may, after consultation with the Chairman, make rules regulating the recruitment and service conditions.
