- Took prominent part in starting the Karnataka Liberal Society, Belgaum, in 1916 along with his friends, as a life member of the Society.
- He was Principal of several High Schools and was organiser of B. V .B. College of egineering, Hubli and the College of Commerce, also at Hubli.
- Besides education, he took keen interest in literature, journalism, co-operation and youth movement.
- He was coeditor of PRABODHA a kannada monthly and Karnataka Journal of education in English.
- Has also worked in the field of municipal administration.
- He was a member of the Board of Management of Bagalkot Municipality appointed by Government.
- Was a member of Bijapur District School Board.
- He has been a fellow of the Bombay University from 1948 to 1955.
- Member of Senate of Karnataka University and academic council.
- Has thus a varied experience of public life.
- Elected to the Bombay Legislative Council in 1952 and in 1956 elected unopposed as a Congress Candidate and continues as Member of the Mysore Legislative Council after 1st November 1956. He is also a member of the State Advisory Board for education.
