1. Entered into active politics in 1967 and elected to the Legislative Council first in 1970 and re-elected in 1976 for one more term. 2. Served as President of the Primary Land Development Bank of Thirthahalli for more than 14 years. 3. Was the Director of the State Land Development Bank and its Vice President for two years; subsequently elected as president of the Karnataka State Land Development Bank which was held for nine years till 1976. He still continues to be a Director of the Bank and also in several other State Level Co-operative Institutions, Cultural and Educational bodies. 4. In 1968 as President of the Karnataka State Land Development Bank represented the Director of the Board of Management of the National Co-operative Land Development Banks Federation. 5. Was elected as its Vice Chairman in 1972 and became the Chairman of the Federation in 1973 and continues to hold that position. 6. He has been a member of the Governing Council of the National Co-operative Union of India and elected as Vice Chairman in 1974. 7. In January 1978 he was elected as the President of the National Co-operative Union of India for the term of 3 years. 8. He is also the Chairman of the National Council for Co-operative training of India. 9. He also negotiated with the world bank at Washington as a member of the team for International Development Agency financed Karnataka Agricultural Project. 10. He is a member of the Central Committee of the International Co-operative Alliance, London and of the General Council of the International Raiffeison Union, Bonn, West Germany. 11. He first became a Director of the Agricultural Refinance and Development Corporation of India in 1972 and re-elected again in 1976 for a four year term, representing the constituency of the Agricultural Development Banks. 12. Was member of Consultative Committee on Co-operation (Ministry of Civil Supplies and Co-operation) Government of India. 13. Was member, General Council, National Co-operative Development Corporation. 14. Chairman, Advisory Committee on Agricultural inputs and supplies constituted by N.C.D.C. 15. Member of the Board, All India State Co-operative Banks Federation. 16. Chairman, Committee for Co-operative Education of N.C.V.I. 17. Member, Agricultural Credit Board(R.B.I). 18. Member, Committee of Co-operative Land Development Banks of R.B.I. 19. Member, Standing Committee on Debenture Norms of R.B.I. 20. Member, working group to study problems arising out of adoption of multi agency approach in Agricultural Credit of R.B.I. 21. Was Member, Committee of integration of short terms and long term credit institutions constituted by R.B.I. 22. He was recently conferred by the German Raiffeisen Federation the highest honour of "GOLDEN RAIFFEISEN PIN" in recognition of distinguished services rendered by him to the German and the international Co-operative movement. He has the distinction of being first Indian to be so Honoured. 23. He has served co-operative movement in general and credit sector in particular for over a decade holding responsible position both at the state and national levels. 24. Was member of state library authority. 25. Member, Committee for cultural programme constituted by the Government of Karnataka, was member of Committee on subordinate legislation. 26. Visited foreign countries like Japan, Thailand, Hongkong, Washington, London, Paris, Budapest, Vienna(Austria), Sofia Bulgaria as a member of the Indian delegation sponsored by National Co-operative Union of India and National Co-operative Land Development Banks Federation. |
