He served as Professor in Political Science at Maharaja College, Mysore and also served as Lawyer in High Court and also in Shimoga District. He was appointed as legal advisor in several social & Governmental Organisations. He is working as the President in Malanadu Development Prathishtan which is having Higher Educational Institutions in and around Sagar Taluk and also the Secretary of Sahyadri Education Trust in Shimoga.

He was a member of 6th, 7th & 8th Assembly and during that regime in 1978-80, he served as State Minister for Information, Youth Services and Energy, Planning & Kannada & Culture Department. He also served as Cabinet Minister for Energy and Information Department. He was the Chairman of Public Accounts Committee in 1987-88. Being a Kannada Writer, he published "Kangudu Mane" Kavana Sankalana and translated the drama of Jeen Pal Sarthra namely Queen in to Kannada language. In the year 1972 he undertook study tour in Manchester of America sponsored by Rotary Club of India. He also travelled in Europe, Japan, Malesia, Singapore on behalf of State Government during the year 1978-80.
