Entered the Satyagraha Movement started by Mahatma Gandhi in 1940.Imprisoned for about seven years in all. 4. Was President, Bijapur District Congress Committee 1947-48; was President, District Local Board, Bijapur 1950; was President of D. C. C. Bijapur, 1957-58. 6. Elected to Lok Sabha in 1951 by an overwhelming majority from Bijapur North, was Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Production since 1953, was General Secretary, M. P. C. C. 7. Toured for about 2 months in Germany, Japan and other Foreign countries along with Sriyuths G. V. Hallikeri and S. R. Kanthi. 8. Was elected to Lok Sabha in 1962 in the Third General Election. Member of the A.I.C.C. and M.P.C.C. and Member Pradesh Congress Election Committee. 9. Elected to the Mysore Legislative Council in 1961 from the Assemly. |
