Social and Other Activities 1. Was the Vice-President of Renukacharya College Students' Association, Bangalore; was the General Secretary of R.L. Law College Students' Association, Belgaum; was the General Secretary of Chikkmagalur District Praja Socialist Party.
2. In 1969, at the time of Congress split, joined the Congress which was headed under the leadership of Smt. Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India being impressed by the Socilalist measurers; was the first and only District Congress General Secretary in Chikkmagalur District who organised the party in the district as well as enrolled membership of about 15,000 persons.
3. In March, 1977, elected to the Lok Sabha for the Second time with the margin of 65,000 votes despite the fact that of having been hospitalised due to a serious accident after filing the nomination; elected to the Karnataka Legislative Council in June, 1978 and resigned seat in Parliament on 29th June, 1978 as he desired to serve the people of Karnataka being nearer to them.
4. Kudremukh Project became a reality during his tenure as Parliament Member which is located in Chikkmagalur District.
5. Has attended many problems of the poor people in the Parliament and in his Constituency; is residing in Chikkmagalur Town in the midst of Harijan Colony.
6. Reading, writing and attending to the problems of the poor contributing efforts to implement the policy and programmes of the party are the daily avocation; Besides he is a good orator; elected to Karnataka Legislative Council in June 1978; was Minister for Minor Irrigation; is the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council from 24th January 1980.
